LHV Bank is a leading provider of BaaS to 200+ global fintechs, SME lending to UK businesses and retail deposits.

Maine worked with LHV from 2018 until 2023, providing comprehensive support in the UK, leading up to the bank’s licence application and transition from a branch entity to an independent UK bank in 2023.

Objectives

Establish LHV Bank's reputation among the fintech, payments, and business press as a credible Banking Services provider and subsequently introduce its SME Lending and Personal Savings business lines.

  • Conducted a strategic review of all external communication channels, addressing inconsistencies.

  • Implemented a full communications strategy, enhancing brand positioning, messaging, media engagement, and internal communications.

  • Engaged with industry analysts, arranging briefings to elevate LHV's standing within the fintech industry.

  • Leveraged company news, partnerships and new product launches to gain extensive coverage in national, fintech, and payments trade press; thereby supporting the growth of LHV's fintech client base from 30 to over 200.

  • Provided comprehensive communication support during LHV's business migration following the acquisition of its UK banking license.

  • Managed the launch of a new website project in readiness for the UK banking license, wrote the full copy, coordinated with design and development teams, and instituted internal processes for inbound queries across multiple departments.

Managed communication for significant newsflow events like the £30 million financing to fully capitalise the bank, acquisition of Bank North's SME Lending business line, obtaining the UK banking license and launch of retail deposits.

Instituted crisis communication planning and performed regular reviews of the document.

Launched the brand on social media, amassing 6,000 followers on LinkedIn; establishing a content strategy.  

Drafting regulatory documents required for the UK banking licence application such as the Communication Plan section for the Solvent Wind Down Plan.

Organised high-profile events, attracting 150+ attendees and featuring esteemed speakers, including the Lord Mayor of the City of London and the Estonian Minister of Entrepreneurship and Information Technology.
